We are excited to announce that we are launching a new Community Leaders Program for My AFib Experience. We plan to select several My AFib Experience members to serve in a volunteer capacity as leaders in the community forum. The role of the community leader is outlined below along with the selection criteria.

Role of the Community Leader:
  • Read and respond to community forum postings at least 3x per week. This involves welcoming new members, sharing your experience with AFib, and directing users to resources and content in My AFib Experience

  • Comply with My AFib Experience guidelines and terms of conditions, especially:
    • Be respectful in responding to users in the forum

    • Do not give medical advice

    • Do not copy/paste copyrighted materials to the forum

  • Write short blog posts for the community on a bi-monthly basis (will have assistance from My AFib Experience team)

  • Potential of being featured in promotional videos and other media opportunities

  • Participate in training call(s)

Selection Criteria for My AFib Experience Community Leaders:
  • Living with or caring for someone with atrial fibrillation

  • Have a passion for supporting others with AFib

  • Active in the My AFib Experience community forum

  • Willing to commit the time to read/respond to postings in the forum at least 3 times per week

  • Willing to comply with community guidelines/terms of use

  • Willing to participate in training call and communicate and update with AHA staff

  • Must have computer access and be able to navigate through My AFib Experience

  • Over 18 years of age

  • Proficient in English

  • Non-smoker

  • US resident, preferred

If you are interested in volunteering as a community leader, please apply by completing the survey at the following link:

We plan to close the survey on October 18, 2016.

Please contact Kristen Wade with any questions.

*Please note, being a community leader is a volunteer role and community leaders will not receive financial compensation. However, you will have a special badge as a Community Leader, and will have opportunities to appear in promotional videos and media.

Thank you!

My initial reaction is, why do we need this. It feels a little bit like I'm being "handled." It presumes that the reader isn't intelligent enough to realize that what is posted is the personal opinion or experience of the person posting and nothing more. I feel this forum is working well .

    Mellanie at,
Holly,As the forum grows, we want to make sure that there are hosts to welcome new folks and make sure folks are getting their questions answered. These hosts (community leaders) are not there to enforce rules – that is the role of the moderators (but we do expect community leaders to follow the rules). And in exchange for the time they invest, we hope to provide opportunities to highlight the work of the community leaders in a variety of ways.Mellanie

    Mellanie at,
[AFib Patient Conference Videos Included] I wanted to highlight that the training for Community Leaders includes full access to all 16+ hours of livestream replays (and videos, when they are ready) from the 2016 Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm. Atrial Fibrillation Patient Conference. You can learn from the world's top afib expert doctors - the innovators and pioneers. The livestream replays are currently priced at $197 (though when the videos are finished, the price may have to go up to cover the costs). This alone is a huge benefit for those who are interested in being Community Leaders. (More info on the replays/videos here:
